Triclosan and triclocarban are long known antiseptics.
The FDA has published two notes about triclosan, one for consumers, the other pointing out its properties. Another text concerns endocrine disruptors, the structure of triclosan or its metabolites can have similarities to that of bisphenol.
Triclocarban is marketed in many countries as an antiseptic. It can be found in the environment but it is difficult to get an idea of its potential toxicity.
