A meta-analysis published in the JAMA of January 6th, 2010 shows that the effect of antidepressants is all the more important that depression is severe (score higher than 25 in the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale), and is small, merging with that of the placebo, in patients with mild or moderate symptoms.
This low efficacy of antidepressants in mild or moderate depressions does not simplify their management.
