Quizz # : 174   Author : Pierre Allain

Three drugs A, B and C having different half-lives, A = 5 hours, B = 10 hours, C = 20 hours (but the same bioavailability  the same rate of intestinal absorption which is very fast and the same volume of distribution), are given by single administration at the same dose.Plasma concentrations are measured and concentration/time curves are plotted, area under curve, AUC, is calculated.
A  The maximum plasma concentration, Cmax, of the drug C is 4 times higher than that of drug A
B  The maximum plasma concentration, Cmax, of the drug B is about the same one as that of drug A
C  The AUC of the drug B is the double of that of drug A
D  The AUC of the drug C is identical to that of drug A
E  The Tmax (time of the maximum concentration) of A, B and C are approximately the same
