Serotonergic hallucinogens

LSD or lysergide obtained by synthesis in Switzerland in 1943 by Albert Hoffman who incidentally discovered its hallucinogenic properties. The hallucinogenic effect of LSD is linked to activation of 5-HT2A receptors.

Psilocybine which in the body is transformed into psylocine and dimethyltryptamine, DMT, are also hallucinogenic agents.
