Taking into account the enzymatic reactions implicated in the synthesis of DNA and RNA that we have just pointed out, there are several possibilities to inhibit it. The drugs used to obtain this effect are inhibitors of folate synthesis, which theoretically have few adverse effects in humans, inhibitors of DHFR, inhibitors of thymidylate synthase, inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase and ribonucleotide diphosphate reductase.
