Angiotensin, bradykinin, endothelins and natriuretic peptides
Angiotensin, bradykinin, endothelins and natriuretic peptides are polypeptides involved in the regulation of arterial pressure.
Angiotensin II is a vasoconstrictive octapeptide. Bradykinin is a vasodilator nonapeptide. Endothelins are vasoconstrictive polypeptides of about 20 amino acids. Natriuretic peptides are vasodilator mostly of cardiac origin. The metabolism and the effects of these various peptides can be modulated by numerous drugs which are generally used in the treatment of arterial hypertension.
